Office Listening: Tea Street Band

In the latest round of office listening, we've ran the rule over a band that's poised to take the UK by storm with their indie electro output that's got Liverpool hooked, they're called The Tea Street Band.

The Skiddle office is going through a bit of a transitional period at the moment, festivals are becoming thin on the ground so we're doing everything we can to recapture the summer as far as office listening is concerned.

One band that hits the spot with their amalgamation of sunny indie and dance is Liverpool's Tea Street Band. They released their debut, self titled long player earlier this year and quite frankly they belong on a live stage, not our office sound system.

It's well documented that the Liverpool city kids are hooked on the bands feel good, up tempo, riff fuelled goodness and we're pretty certain that the Tea Street Band are going to blow the rest of the UK's lid off.

They're a Liverpool five piece that breathes Manchester, and there's not many bands that can say that, with flavours of The Stone Roses and the deceased Rain Band, yet they still possess that hip inner city vibe resonating from the albums electro dancey tinges.

When kicking back and listening to the album every song mines the same criteria, dancey get loose anthems that make you feel on top of the world, and with that being the case there's no need to change, because we're having it.

Their heartfelt lyrics go hand in hand with their glistening sound, 'Lost For Words' a track backed by a relenting drum beat that's enough to work up any man and his dog is a perfect example of this, with lead vocalist Timo Tierney blaring out  'All I need is some time, All I need is some space and time away" before the track sets away again landing another shimmering blow of escapism.

Once engaged in the Tea Street Band's encapsulating feel good chasm it's hard to pick a winner from the record, every song's got something to give. It's material primed to elate audiences, providing a guaranteed pick me up that's much needed when you're stuck in the confines of the office.

'PTFO' is one of those tracks that really gets in your head, a blend of buoyant thrusting guitar lines, speckled synth tones with a dancey drum beat, perfectly accompanied by an anthemic outburst of "push the feeling, push push the feeling" that'll fail to escape your head for days.

A more upbeat affair from the album is 'Disco Lights', bearing a simple yet effective riff layered with Balearic tones that really get under your skin. 'Summer Dreaming', another of the band's golden touches, opens up with mesmeric hollow tones that really set the song away before it progressively lures you into a sense of escapism, a continuing theme throughout the album.

It's well sought after on a live platform, especially in the cultural backdrop of Manchester's Northern Quarter where the band will air their talents at the Night and Day Cafe on Thursday 9th of October. Get your tickets for that here
