We're all familiar with the city centre festival format - and the inevitable schedule clashes that format implies. You want to see this band but you also want to see that band - and they're playing at the same time at different venues, on opposite sides of the city.

Salford's multi-venue festival, Orbit, takes that issue out of the picture by leading gig-goers on a linear tour of some of the city's most significant buildings, each playing host to a different live act, one after the other, in a continual musical journey.

Created by Sounds from the Other City and the Volkov Commanders, Orbit is a one-off collaboration that aims to play with the traditional festival structure and create a unified, shared experience for  gig-goers -  or 'Orbit voyagers'. Instead of going off and doing your own thing as you would do at a normal festival, the event puts audiences into a collective orbit through space, time and Salford.
