Ones To Watch: Mimi Webb
We profile Mimi Webb who will be playing Highest Point festival this year and is one of the best new pop artists emerging at the moment.
Date published: 7th Apr 2022
An artist who originally hails from Canterbury, Mimi Webb grew up on the sounds of artists such as Amy Winehouse, Emelie Sande and Sam Smith, some of the biggest pop artists of recent decades. This influenced her beginnings in music as she started writing songs at the age of 13.
Eventually learning to play the guitar too, she enrolled in the prestigious BRIT School which has produced some of the most influential artists of our times including Adele, Ella Eyre and FKA Twigs. In 2019 she started uploading her early work online and it instantly attracted interest from various record labels.
Her popularity exploded not too soon afterwards after she uploaded an acapella performance to TikTok that gained over 20 million views. It was the viral moment that acted as a springboard for her quick ascent to popularity. It was a rise that was so sudden that it seemed as though her name was everywhere all of a sudden.
What Mimi Webb does is harness some of the very best aspects of those artists who originally influenced her. Not one to hide her emotions, she channels them into pop songs that are absolutely soaked in feeling and there’s a certain sense of relatable honesty that runs throughout her work.
In 2021, Mimi released her debut album ‘Seven Shades of heartbreak’ which gained a place in the top ten of the UK charts. It is a signifier of where Mimi Webb is going to go, still only 21 she is still just nurturing her talent and there will be a lot more to come from her career and plenty more chart placements.
For now, she has plenty of fan-favourite tracks that are gleefully recited back to her whenever she plays live. Whether it be ‘Before I Go’, ‘Reasons’ or ‘House On Fire’, she already has a large collection of tracks that are hugely impressive for an upcoming pop star. She'll also be joining pop royalty Justin Beiber on his Justice world tour alongside Noah Cyrus, meaning that you'll be able to catch her at an arena very soon.
She’ll be taking to the stage at Highest Point festival in Lancaster this year and we can’t wait to welcome such a promising young talent to the stage. She’ll definitely be one to get the crowd going and we’re excited to hear her latest material. If this is the first time you’ve heard her on stage it won’t be the last.
Mimi Webb is one of the most exciting new artists on the Highest Point lineup and you can find tickets for the festival here.
