Nightmares on Wax
Experimental audio sampling genius, Leeds-based George Evelyn A.K.A. Nightmares on Wax or DJ E.A.S.E., is set to bring his unique blend of electronically composed, chilled out Soul music, tinged with Jazz, Dub, and Hip-Hop, to Stockport this Summer.
A highly regarded legend of his respective scene, the 49-year-old, who now resides in Ibiza, has graced stages around the world and released multiple LP's through renown electronic label, WARP Records. His most recent release 'Look Up' featuring guest vocals from Andrew Ashong and Sadie Walker is the perfect soundtrack to a hazy summers day in a field. Completely appropriate for Moovin Festival, complementing its stunning backdrop. A master of his craft no doubt, his set is a definite addition to our list.
Marshall Jefferson
Widely regarded as one of the architects of modern-day House music, Marshall Jefferson is a name you will have most certainly heard before. Born in Chicago, in 1959, Jefferson began his career working in Universal's recording studios, in Illinois. It's here where he met Larry Sherman, owner of Trax Records. He went on to release some of the biggest house tracks of the '80s including 'The House Anthem Track' - 'Move your Body'.
Jefferson is still a firm favorite amongst fans of Dance culture and we are absolutely sure that he will prove exactly why during his performance at this years Moovin Festival. One not be missed!
Yellowman
Famed albino, Jamaican Reggae and Dancehall star, King Yellowman is due to thoroughly entertain Moovin attendees with his witty, sometimes humorous lyricism and adrenaline filled live set. The Kingston native, born Winston Foster, is one of Jamaica's biggest Reggae artists after Bob Marley. His music has been placed in an impressive number of successful TV shows, films, and games, such as Breaking Bad and Grand Theft Auto V.
His highly energetic, live performances that ooze charisma have been recalled on by many. If you're up for crowd participation and like to move your feet, be sure to catch the king!
Fabio & Grooverider
Pioneers of their craft, dons of the Drum n Bass game, still producing heavy, hard-hitting, pulse-raising bangers, Fabio & Grooverider have been, and continue to be, an influential force on several genres in the UK Dance scene, from Breakbeat to House and Techno.
The duo, who originally began their journey performing sets on pirate radio stations, went on to establish a solid fan base by playing at raves across the country. Their growth in popularity lead to the pair being approached by the likes of Kiss FM and BBC Radio 1, where they took over the airwaves and brought Drum n Bass to the masses.
If you're looking for something with tempo over the course of the weekend, this is it! We suggest you consider your energy reserves and make sure you've got plenty in stock. You will need it!
DJ Woody
Hip-Hop turntablist extraordinaire, DJ Woody will do things with vinyl that you thought impossible. Seriously. This extremely talented record enthusiast, born and raised in Burnley, has proven his skills time and time again. In 2001, he became the first European to win the International Turntablist Federation World Championship award in San Francisco. The following year, he went on to win the Vestax World title.
An innovator of scratching records, DJ Woody has been monumental to the progression of the skill, inventing several techniques including his own signature scratching technique 'The Woodpecker Scratch'.
