Following a million pound renovation, Carlisle's Old Fire Station has been transformed into an arts hotspot fit for galleries, workshops and more. In accordance with it's cultural standing, the venue welcomes a series of events curated by authors, comedians, musicians and numerous other figures of interest over the coming months.
John Cooper Clarke, a famed poet affectionately known as the Bard of Salford performs at the venue on Tuesday 14th July. Having come to prominence during the seventies, John's poetry centres on the punk movement, and is widely revered by many for his wit and satire - see him in action below. Tickets available here.
A further much loved presence, Sunny Ormonde, who plays Lilian Bellamy on Radio 4's The Archers makes her way to the venue on Saturday 8th August. The night will meander through humorous tales from her illustrious acting career, behind the scenes stories from the world's longest running soap opera and a question and answer session about the making of the popular radio show. Grab your tickets for that here.
Poetry is once again on the menu when Roger McGough talks through his new book of poems As Far As I Know on Friday 23rd October. Combining menace, melancholy and wit, Roger's comical musings and impressive drawings provide solid reasoning to take in the multi talented Radio 4 staple. Secure your tickets here.
