We are now on sale for two dates with the Pet Shop Boys in Summer 2014. The synth pop legends, famed for their deadpan lyrics, swirling electronics and gloriously opulent stage shows, will be playing live in the Birmingham LG Arena on Friday 13th June and the Blackpool Empress Ballroom three days later on Monday 16th June.
Via their slew of instantly recognisable hits (stream some of them above on their greatest hits opus Discography - Complete Singles Collection), ' Go West', 'It's a sin' and the politically satirical 'Opportunities (Let's Make lots of Money)', the duo, officially the most successful British pop music duo of all time with worldwide sales exceeding 50 Million, have been celebrated for their wide ranging palette of influences and ability to add a lavish irony to their musical observations, the perfect accompaniment to their camp appeal.
'West End Girls', produced by disco legend Bobby O and inspired by early hip-hop music and T.S Eliot poem The Waste Land, encapsulates the group's ability to weld disparate influences. They've remained musically active and with a keen eye on the political situation of the present, recently recording a track 'The Best Gay Possible' based on the viral gay rights speech from Irish drag queen Panti Bliss, which you can listen to and download below.
