All round golden emcee and hip hop great, Pharoahe Monch is destined for LiVe Preston on Tuesday 10th Janaury. It is not often an artist of Troy Jamerson's calibre reaches the city, so naturally circulating one of only five UK dates to the city is kind of a big deal.
The spotlight was first cast on Pharoahe Monch as part of Organized Confusion with Prince Poetry. Together they spun a web of socio-political rhymes that diverted from the popular discourse of gangsta-rap.
Eventually setting off on a solo voyage, Jamerson hooked up with Rawkus Records to impact the genre with Internal Affairs - a debut record that honed a more aggressive approach to flexing his agenda.
The latest album to be headed by the artists name is PTSD - Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, weighted with guests including Talib Kweli. A voice of the people since first stepping up on the mic, this is a fine opportunity to see one of the genre's most iconic during particularly uncertain times.
