Following almost a decade of rowdy parties under Glasgow's iconic West Street Bridge, the team behind the renowned street festival, Platform 18 have sadly announced plans to call time on the popular event, issuing details of one last final hurrah to see the festival out in style.
The celebrated live music spectacle has played an integral part in building upon the city's already historic and still prospering dance music scene, delivering sets from a jaw-dropping list of internationally acclaimed names over the past nine years - from Chicago house music legend, Derrick Carter and 'The Wizard', Jeff Mills, to Belgian techno specialist, Amelie Lens and Scotland's poster boy of dance, Richie Hawtin.
Marking its 'Final Stop' in September this year - Saturday 24th to Monday 26th September - the summertime dance soiree plans to run not one, but two epic open-air raves on the Southside of the River Clyde. Platform 18 resident and trusty curator, Ivan Kutz, AKA Scott McFarlane, has pulled out all the stops for the last dance, with a monster lineup set to rock the banks of the famous waterway.
Artists scheduled to appear include 'Techno Baron', Dave Clarke, Hardfloor, DVS1, fast-rising DJ, Kobosil, Outflight, Planetary Assault Systems, local talent, Fraz.ier, and beloved techno selector, DJ Rush. Check out the poster above for more lineup details.
As is usual, a focus on mental health will be central to this year's final event. Ivan has supported the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH) since 2013, raising well over £5,000 for the charity in memory of a close friend whom he lost to suicide.
Ahead of the Final Stop, Ivan confirmed:
"It is with a heavy heart that I will be hanging up the headphones down at West Street this year. It's been such an extraordinary nine years, which has given me the opportunity to build a unique electronic party and book my favourite DJ's along the way. The whole experience has shaped me into the man I am today. I can't recommend enough to any young aspiring promoters out there to just go for it! Anything is possible if you have the vision and passion."
