Hoooooooonk. It's rave time on April 21st as the Live room becomes an electro battlefield with French decadents Black Strobe playing a rare live show and DJ Touche throws his hat in the ring for the dancefloor bloodshed. In Neutral house heroes Herd & Fitz lead the charge…with Go Home Productions taking the lead in Earth.
Gay biker house, boogie trance and soft goth are all terms coined to describe the rabid breed of dance music Black Strobe have been brewing in their Parisian studio/bunker. Arnaud Rebotini and Ivan Smagghe are the purveyors of wired electronics behind the Strobe whose eyes and ears met while working in the dance music section of Rough Trade.
This pair of late night barons have taken their time building up a collection of lairy electronic animals which prowl the dancefloor before swooping in for the kill. 'Me and Madonna,' 'Italian Fireflies' and 'Chemical Sweet Girl' are all disco noir bombs which won't so much take your head off, as knock you out.
Last years 'Remix Selection' featuring rerubs of Depeche Mode, The Rapture and Bloc Party for the darker dancefloors bodes well for their long awaited debut LP. Augmented live with guitars and drums this is blistering electro and roll with synths. Hot, hot, hot, hot…
Originally one half of the Wiseguys the much lauded DJ Touche will be dropping in to manhandle the decks after Black Strobe has finished with you. Since the heady heights of the Wiseguys Touche has thrown himself into a back breaking amount of DJing and production work.
Original productions for Southern Fried and his own label Body Clap have filtered through to the boxes of the hottest DJs. With residencies across the land his Saturday night shindig at the T-Bar in Shoreditch is a hedonistic playground for the more discerning late night reveller. Electro, indie dance and booming, banging house music.
If you like your digital rhythm to come with a rocket shoved up its arse then you cannot afford be anywhere else…
Two Sheffield specialists in computer music will be immersing themselves in the carnage. Beautiful Balloon are a 3 piece dealing in crisp punk funk and loping acid grooves. These boys take musical conventions and push it them from the tops of high buildings.
Pygmy Globetrotters are Rich O and Ian K, two digital heathens who like to imitate the sounds of synthesizers dying. They'll be delighting all with their shouting, bleeping new wave naughtiness. Bass and bleeps galore…
Out in the Earth room Go Home Productions aka Mark Vidler will be joining Geoff Howse for a night of dirty electro, bootlegs and bastard pop.
The Watford based Mr Vidler has worked with the likes of Kasabian and David Bowie in his day job as a producer. When night falls he gets out a rusty blade and sets about splicing musical limbs together to create outrageous electronic monsters. EMI's ultimate bootleg album, 'Mashed,' is a showcase of much of this man's talent. He is very hot indeed…
Headlining the Love to Be party in Neutral are lords of the funky house scene, Herd & Fitz. Jason Herd and Jon Fitz are the duo responsible for one of the biggest house tracks of recent years, 'I just can't get enough,' an anthemic slice of funked up party house.
Work for Hedkandi and Subliminal has helped catapult these boys into the big time. Now undertaking djing work around the world as well as recording the Subliminal Sunsets mix album last summer has ensured they're vying for attention at the top of the house music game. Funky 4/4 euphoria all night with able assistance from Love to Be uber ressies Richard Williams and Steve Mason…
