Sankeys first opened its doors in 1994 as Sankeys Soap, named after the building it is housed in, which used to manufacture soap. Over the past 19 years it has hosted nights featuring household names such as Daft Punk, Chemical Brothers and Moby but has also helped to break underground DJs into the mainstream. In 2010 it was named number one club in the world by DJ Mag and this spurred owner Dave Vincent into creating the "7 Sankeys of the World" - the first two being in Manchester and Ibiza.
One of Sankeys' current resident DJs is Jozef K, who has provided this week's podcast mix. He has built himself a glowing profile in such a short time, with a portfolio including his own productions, remixes and a string of DJ dates. Aged just 23, Jozef K has quietly been crafting a name for himself, as one of Sankeys' lynchpins as well as playing at Croatia's Dimensions festival, Ibiza, Berlin and Moscow this year. Following on from his early well-received releases on Kaluki Musik, Jozef has been signed to Adam Shelton's revered One Records and has a forthcoming EP on Sasha's label Last Night on Earth.
