Preston's The Ferret has announced that it has met its funding goal in order to stay open. Part of the Music Venue Trust's #ownourvenues initiative, the venue had a goal to raise enough money so that the MVT could buy the freehold and rent the venue back to them at a much more generous rate.
Their fight doesn't quite finish yet however, as stated in the post above, the wider #ownourvenues campaign does not stop until March 30th. Only then will the process to secure the venue will begin and there will be a wait before everything is signed off. Yet, there is no mistaking that this is still a huge step for the beloved venue.
You can still donate to The Ferret to ensure that they have a prosperous future. It is a key venue for Preston and does wonders for the local creative community. To find out more information about the crowdfunding and to help contribute to the Music Venue Trusts ongoing campaign click here.
