Emerging in the early nineties, the sound of jungle took over the clubs of London, Bristol and eventually the rest of the country. The frenetic reimagining of the amen break coupled with reggae roots samples and low end bass rumblings has proved to be one of the most eternal sounds of dance music culture.
Breakage - Clarendon
One of the brightest lights of the new wave of jungle was none other than breakage. Adding an ambient textures with sparse and yet frantic drums, creepy atmospherics and esoteric soundscapes, Breakage honed a forward thinking sound that won over the jungle and drum n bass world. Tracks like So Vain, Mars, and Clarendon have gone down in history as absolute classics, both in defining a genre and forging new inventive directions. In recent times though Breakage’s ever developing sound has seen him slow down the pace and pick up the dubstep and occasional four to the floor mantle, moving away from his dubby high tempo roots, evolving with the scene around him and moving more into the public’s consciousness.
Breakage - So Vain
However it’s with great anticipation that Breakage will be playing an EXCLUSIVE jungle set at the forthcoming Amen Brother, at Manchester’s premier nightspot Antwerp Mansion. With a great deal of wrangling and arm twisting involved, the guys at Amen Brother have secured what promises to be one of the highlights of the jungle and drum n bass scene this year, with a welcome return for one of the scene’s most loved veterans.
It is highly unlikely to happen again, so don’t miss your chance to see Breakage doing with great skill the stuff that has earned him the name he so rightly deserves.
Breakage will be joined by legendary MC LX One, Nanny Banton vs Bane, Hit & Run’s Rich Reason, Antagonist back to back with Intro, Jungle Syndicate’s Skillin and Jack B for a night crammed the finest jungle and drum n bass.
