Preview: Bloodstock Open Air Festival @ Catton Park

Bloodstock have gone all out with their lineup this year, by attracting some of the biggest and most influential metal bands to its home in Catton Park in Derbyshire. With the festival long since establishing itself as the fastest-growing, heaviest, hardest, and most important hard rock and metal gathering in the UK, expect to be amazed as the organizers aim out do themselves once more.

Friday's headliner is none other than King Diamond, the Danish metal legend, and Metallica favourite. Bloodstock have managed to get the elusive Danes to put in one of his rare but extremely special performances, in fact, you won't be able to see him anywhere else in the UK in 2013! Other bands playing on the Friday include Accept, Municipal Waste, Fire Wind, and Dark Funeral, as well as a whole host of others.

Saturday's headline act are New Wave American Heavy Metal legends Lamb of God. This will only be the band's second UK show since the release of their critically acclaimed album ‘‘Resolution’’ back in the beginning of 2012. Saturday also sees the likes of Avantasia, Kataklysm, Sabaton, and HELL showcasing their metal prowess, to the delight of festival goers.

Closing proceedings on the Sunday evening is none other than Seminal Thrash Metal legends Slayer. The much loved Californian four-piece will be bringing their face-melting, monster riffs to the metal fraternity. Joining Slayer are Anthrax, Devildriver, Amorphis, and Exodus to name a just a few.

Featuring over 100 carefully selected bands, spanning 4 Days, across 4 stages; along with an International metal market, Comedians, Late Night Entertainment, Metal Karaoke, as well as a Beer Festival; its easy to see why Bloodstock is considered the number one Metal event of the year.
