Saturday the 1st of June will herald the arrival of a night of British Title Fight Boxing and Old Skool House Music - a winning combination in anyone’s books!
The fight everyone is eagerly anticipating is the long awaited clash between two local heroes, and former Lonsdale rulers, David Barnes and Craig Watson. Both fighters are huge names in Manchester, giving the city’s Boxing fraternity a lot to be proud of over the years. This fight promises to be “a terrific derby between two fighters who really can't afford to lose. Both these fighters have been British champion before so they know what it's like to be at the top end of this sport and I know deep down that the pair of them are desperate to be there again. This is going to be two local lads in front of a passionate crowd giving it their all to get back amongst the title picture again."
The battle on June 1st for the glory of their hometown will ultimately end up in an epic and gruelling fight, music to any boxing fans ears.
And talking of music, the Boxing Event will host an after party, featuring some of the biggest names in old skool music: Brandon Block, Stu Allan, Gaz Danielz and Scott Wheeler.
Brandon Block is one of the true British house music legends. Starting his career way back in 1985, Brandon rose through the ranks to end up playing such prestigious venues as Ministry of Sound, Miss Moneypenny’s, Republica and Progress amongst others. His many appearances on Radio One’s essential mix lead to an ever increasing following, as did his three Ministry of Sound singles which all ranked highly in the charts. When it comes to knowledge of the old skool, you can’t do much better than Brandon Block.
He will be joined by the likes of local Manchester hero Stu Allan. His radio shows on Piccadilly Radio and Key 103 were huge influences on the Manchester scene at the time, as he played a real mixture of styles including house, techno and even hip hop. His previous appearances at Bowlers have always gone down a storm, and his choice of high energy Old Skool music has maintained him as a favourite of the Manchester crowd.
They will be ably joined by fellow Mancunians Gaz Danielz and Scott Wheeler, both bringing with them the finest of old skool selections.
With a selection of top class fighters in the offing, including Matthew Hatton, Matty Clarkson v Carl Wild, Hosea Burton, Liam Hanrahan, Liam Conroy, and Chris Healey v Paul O'Hagan, Coldwell Boxing have excelled themselves once more and put on what promises to be one of the most exciting Boxing events that the city has seen in some time. Add to that the prospect of a top notch Old Skool music line up, and you’ve got of one hell of an event lined up.
