Preview: Collect! at Dirty Little Secret with Locked Groove

It is with a certain amount of sadness that Collect! announce this, their last event to be held at Sheffield's now iconic Dirty Little Secret Smithfield venue.

Since October 2010 Collect! has been at the very cutting edge of underground dance music in the Yorkshire city, inviting some of the biggest names in the scene to its unique concrete maze. Now well entrenched as the leading exponents of forward thinking dance music in Sheffield, Collect! helped spawn a scene and create a legion of fans who otherwise would never have enjoyed the exposure to quality underground music.

As a final celebration, Collect! are going out on a high as the DLS swan song features a headline set from an artist on the very forefront of dance music innovation.

Locked Groove will be making his first appearance at DLS, and first appearance in Sheffield. The Belgian producer has been right in the middle of the resurgence of house and techno in recent years, wading between influences and genres, creating some of the most original and fiercely creative output in the scene. With his 3 releases last year causing something of a stir with DJs and clubbers, appearing as a regular fixture on Scuba’s Hotflush and Tiga’s Turbo imprints, he has since found himself in seriously high demand.

His most recent release Waves on his own label has been one of the best received singles of the year. It’s combination of deceptive piano house making way for an acid drenched beat freak out with big room techno four to the floor ‘oomph’ has greeted dancefloors across the country with devastating effect. With his appearance at DLS landing on his birthday, combined with it being the club's last outing, and all bets are off for what promises to be a night of unbridled partying and carefree raving.

Locked Groove will be joined by the reliably brilliant Collect! residents, all with extended sets. Look forward to the likes of Set 2, Kujio, J Gillet and Keyman tearing it up for one last time.

Prepare to remove the shackles of boring dance music as the Sheffield club night returns for one last blowout at DLS. Collect! is going down swinging.
