Dubstep Founding Father Caspa hits Leeds Warehouse on 23rd for Eat My Beat.

Ah, dubstep. much loved, much maligned, and now splintered off into so many sub-genres, side projects and Skrillexes that nobody’s sure exactly where it’s at.
However, ask any fan of bass heavy, madness friendly and, shall we say it, downright filthy dubstep what they’d recommend as a good starting point, and Caspa’s seminal Fabriclive mix, produced with Rusko (now busy producing someone called MIA), will undoubtedly forever remain a good shout.
Originally a key part of a dubstep uprising including himself, Skream and Irration Steppas, Caspa has gone on to remain one of the smartest and most on the ball DJs on the scene, ripping the roof off venues nationwide with sets that showcase not only his love of dubstep, but hip hop, drum n’ bass and dub reggae. Whatever happens, you’re guaranteed the low end of dancefloor destruction and plenty of unexpected jump up moments.
The current schedule at Leeds’ Warehouse encapsulates all sides of dance music from Toddla T to 2ManyDJs, but no other night is set to spark as much madness as Caspa’s return for Eat My Beat. As well as producing the first ever dubstep mix for Fabric, Caspa is well known for his multiple labels designed to explore new sounds from the fringes of bass and dubstep, established with Storming Productions in 2004 and then followed by subsidary labels such as Dub Police and Sub Soldiers, aimed at signing new talent. As you can see, Caspa has been a smart fixture since the birth of dubstep, and his tastemaker status was further cemented last year with the release of Caspa Presents - Dubstep Sessions 2012, a two hour compilation featuring his own productions along with the likes of industry heavyweights such as Skrillex, Buraka Som Sistema and Subscape.
2013 looks to be another big year, with fans and industry watchers alike eagerly anticipating the release of his new album, Alpha Omega, which has been in production since 2009.
With Caspa having recently gigged everywhere from Canada to Kazakhstan, bass music lovers in Leeds now have the opportunity to preview his latest material possible in the cavernous, rumbling Leeds Warehouse - we’re sure you’ll agree it’ll be the perfect setting for one of dubstep’s true Godfathers. Paying tribute to the scene, expect support from Amy Becker and Vital Techniques, plus a guest MC yet to be confirmed.
