Billed as "the most famous club in the world" (Newsweek) - Hacienda has left one hell of a legacy in the clubbing world. Since beginning way back in 1982, Hacienda went on to set an unbelievably high precedent for the possibilities of clubbing, and left a legacy that has set the benchmark for the rest of the UK to aim at. Having inspired a generation of DJs and producers, everyone from Sasha to The Chemical Brothers, The Happy Mondays to 808 State cite The Hacienda specifically as a motivating influence in their musical careers.
With FAC51 closing in June 1997, the legend has lived on through a series of parties under the Hacienda brand, maintaining the spirit that permeated the original venue. This December sees the Hacienda brand hit Preston, with some of its proudest prodigies headlining.
Greg Wilson - Radio One Essential Mix
Greg Wilson steps up to take the limelight at this eagerly awaited arrival. Having held an influential residency at Hacienda beginning in 1983, Greg quickly went on to become one of the most respected DJs and remixers in his field. After taking time out from DJing in the mid eighties to concentrate on producing, Greg made a triumphant return to his craft in 2003 after his night 'The Music Is Better' proved a massive hit and instantly had him back in demand across the country.
However it was his essential mix for Radio One in 2009 that truly marked his return, instantly becoming a stone cold classic and widely regarded as one of the best DJ mixes of all time (above). We got all misty eyed about that particular mix last week. (Check out our Throwback Thursday article here) Having headlined at Festival No.6, Bestival, Wickerman and Glastonbury this year alone, Greg has prove to be one of the most popular DJs in his field, with his unique approach to DJing inciting a state of frenzy wherever he plays.
K Klass - Rhythm Is A Mystery
Another group that formed as a direct result of meeting at the Hacienda are K Klass, who have gone on to become legends in their own right. With a slew of club land smashes and chart success, tracks like 'Rhythm is a Mystery' and 'Let Me Show You' heralded in a new zeitgeist of dance music, leaving a lasting impression on the shape of British dance music that continues through to today.
Herbie Sacanni and Jaegerossa round off an almighty Hacienda line up that will be an unmissable party experience, bringing the enduring, iconic party brand to Preston this winter.
