Nothing is more synonymous with the British summer than a good old British barbecue. Its something we love and are also bloody good at. Grillstock aims to maximise this passion and love for outdoor grilled meats, with the highly popular food festival returning once again for 2013.

Grillstock makes its debut in Manchester’s Albert Square, 8th and 9th June. It’s already shaping up to be THE destination for anyone that loves real tasty food and great music.

At the centre of the festival lies the American low and slow style ‘King Of The Grill’ competition, featuring 12 teams battling it out over the BBQ coals. This unique competition poses the ideal opportunity for visitor interaction with the guys behind the grills, picking up top tips, sampling secret recipes and darn good eatin’ to boot. Overseeing proceedings will be celebrity and BBQ legend Ray Lampe (Dr BBQ top you and I), who will act as judge for the competition.

Other events to look forward to will be the Grillstock Chilli-Eating Competition So if you’re feeling brave and have a mouth made of asbestos, you’re in with a chance of winning something very special indeed. There’s also a mouth-watering Rib-Eating competition and and intriguing BBQ Academy.

To accompany the full menu of BBQ related mayhem and madness, there will also be Brewstock, an aptly named number of bars purveying quality craft beers, ideal to sink your food down with, or take the edge of the chilli competition you wish you’d never entered!
