Liverpool's Hustle welcomes the head honcho one of house music’s finest imprints to oversee the headline slot of their birthday shenanigans. Local Talk Records have been at the forefront of the 90s house revival sound that has been sweeping the dance music world of late. Whilst there have been many imitations, Local talk in the hands of Mad Mats and Tooli have been dispatching release after release of sheer quality, bringing the much loved New York and New Jersey sound bang up to date whilst maintaining nostalgic passion for the genre.
Mad Mats himself will be in full force at Hustle’s celebration, showing just what it is that has everyone in the scene talking about the Swedish disc jockey. Since the mid eighties, Mad Mats has been immersed in the world of music. From collecting samples and breaks and combining them with dance music of varying styles, his wildly eclectic full throttle sets earned him immense popularity in his native country. In between running three labels, Mats also runs Raw Fusion, a club in the heart of Stockholm that has become one of the most well known clubs in Scandinavia, and has featured headline slots from guests as diverse as Theo Parrish, the late J-Dilla, Kerri Chandler, Peanut Butter Wolf, Gilles Peterson, Sbtrkt, Carl Craig, Jazzanova, Laurent Garnier and Dixon.
Gifted with serious technical skills, an encyclopaedic musical knowledge, and insatiable hunger for underground music, Mad Mats has rightly become one of the most respected DJs on the circuit.
Joining him will be Hustle’s very own James Morgan, and Manchester’s RaBaSca and Gavin Clarke - rounding off a scintillating line up of top underground talent.
Hustle’s birthday celebrations are all set to have your deepest house needs met.
