Brixton Clubhouse will host the latest edition of the hugely popular Up On The Roof. With a music policy that ranges from hip hop to soul, and disco to house, the London promoters have hosted some of the biggest and most influential names in British music history.
None fit that bill more comprehensively than Norman Jay. After appearing for them 3 times last year, the Up On The Roof guys have clearly been keen on getting one of the most important figures in British black music back for some time. Refusing to be pigeonholed into one particular genre, the notting Hill born innovator has used his wide musical influences to forge his own sound.
Watch: Norman Jay @ Notting Hill Carnival 2012
Along with his brother Joey, the two have established the undeniable highlight of London’s Notting Hill Carnival - the Good Times Sound System. Attracting somewhere in the region of 15,000 attendees throughout each day, their eclectic, soulful, upbeat vibe has become an essential destination for fans. His 3 hour Good Times set on 14th of July promises to be something really quite special.
Joining him at Up On The Roof will be Sancho Panza. Matt Brown & Jimmy K-Tel, aka Sancho Panza started off in 1992, in a humble basement somewhere in London. Holding events in warehouses, on canals, in boats, old cinemas, old gyms, and old embassies on their way to becoming the renowned party starter they now are, their philosophy has remained the same throughout - an unbridled party atmosphere that celebrates the best in underground music. Their August Bank Holiday party on Middle Row has become the stuff of legends. Their appearance at Up On The Roof will be a chance to see what all the fuss is about.
Also appearing will be Tim Sheridan, Mister Shiver, Simon Kurrage, Rob Alldritt, Lofty, and Linden C.
Up on The Roof Once Again promises some serious party vibes from some of the most influential characters in underground music.
