We look ahead to the Saturday at Sound Control, where Positive Education welcome Funk D’Void and Alex Niggemann to the city.

This weekend will see Manchester’s Sound Control reverberate to the sounds of classic techno and house. Much like the classic Slam record with which it shares a name, Positive Education, the clubnight will focus on a very definitive texture and style in the vein of the event’s organisers, the 3 Deep DJs.
The Slam connection continues with the headline turn from one of the stalwarts of their Soma label. The Glaswegian in question may answer to passport control as Lars Sandberg, but he is better known throughout the world as Funk D'void. Under that moniker he’s delivered monumental techno (best surmised by the epochal ‘Diabla’, below), and helmed a career djing across all four corners of the world, and his appearance at the event is certainly a coup for the promoters.
As is the support, Dusseldorf born, Alex Niggemann providing a perfect complement. He first made the grade as DJ T’s tea-boy at the onset of Get Physical, before progressing to a valued remixer on the imprint as well as other labels such as Tsuba, Poker Flat and Freerange. Joining the 3 Deep DJs in support will be Low Down & Dirty resident Craig Whittaker.
