The finest in the UK dub movement will be in full force this Saturday, shaking your body to the core with some of the very best sound systems in the country, and a huge lineup of roots, reggae and dub pioneers, all ready to be a part of one unforgettable party.
Some of the major players involved will be Glasgow's world renowned Mungo’s HiFi. Alongside their scotch bonnet label imprint, the team behind Mungo’s have stayed very close to the original Jamaican roots and dub soundsystem culture, winning favour with purists and newcomers alike. The Scottish dub team have played and hosted tents all across the festival circuit since their inception in 2000. They will be bringing their wealth of experience in the dub circuit with them and will be wowwing audiences with their trademark passion for their art.
Joining them will be Barry Ashworth from Dub Pistols fame. Since the 90’s the Dub Pistols have been forging a new style for themselves. Building from elements of Hip Hop, Dub, Ska, and Punk, Dub Pistols constantly pushed the boundaries of roots music, and found a niche that nobody else can replicate.
DJ Madd will be supplying a few elements of dubstep at the proceedings. Keeping the ‘Dub’ firmly in Dubstep, DJ Madd is one of the few producers that has kept true to the origins of dubstep, and not sold out into abysmal current trends. Expect a fantastic set of deep, rugged, and pulverising bass excursions, put together in only the way DJ Madd can do.
Along the same lines Adam Prescott will have a hefty selection of roots influenced steppas tunes, and newcomers to the Reggae Roast Vibration Lab will be showcasing their forward thinking reggae and unique styles, guaranteed to get everyone moving.
With plenty more planned in the second room too, Wray & Nephew’s Overproof Rum dedicated cockatil specialists, and some of the best Funktion One Sound systems on the roots circuit, this is shaping up to be something special. This is your chance to enjoy a true flavour of Caribbean and sound system culture this weekend.
