For all the posturing and supposed rivalry, Liverpool and Manchester have a lot of love for one another. The connections between the two cities has been an integral part of clubland since the acid house era, with then Hacienda resident Laurent Garnier citing Liverpool's Quadrant Park as just as important an institution as the fabled Manchester club, and the friendliness still rings true to this day.
That mutual love is extended on Friday February 7th when Manchester soiree Underground & Friends put on their first showcase in Liverpool at Haus Warehouse. The clubnight started in the summer of last year as an extension of the Underground DJ agency and website, taking the city by storm with the likes of Deetron, Mihai Popoviciu, Adana Twins, Larse, Jozif and more all appearing, as well as a man who tops the bill for this installment; Finnebassen.
The Norwegian house music aficionado is one of the most exciting talents to emerge in recent years, his melody soaked sounds igniting the likes of Nor Music and House of Disco Records. His DJ sets are similarly evocative, blending hip shaking rhythms with heaby touches of melody, as the above guest-mix for Defected Records showcases perfectly.
His residency for Sankeys Ibiza confirmed him as a one of the talents of modern European deep house, gifting him the opportunity to bring his groove drenched sound to the attention of a mass of clued up heads on a near weekly basis, and his Liverpool debut is set to shake the city's house loving ravers to their core. He'll be joined by OFF Recordings' Robosonic, Liverpool's favourite Manc DJ Lauren Lo Sung and Underground resident duo Paul O'Hanlon and Chris Baxter. For tickets head here.
