Preview: The Underground presents Doctor Dru, Larse and Bluford Duck

Starting life way back in 2011, The Underground set up shop to showcase the most forward thinking artists in the netherworld of electronic music, making their events some of the most respected nights in Manchester. The Underground’s latest offering is characteristically cutting edge.

Doctor Dru - The Voice Of Dru

First up is German house music wizard Doctor Dru. Brought up on a diet of snare drums, skateboarding and soul music, Doctor Dru fell in love with Atari’s and drum machines at a young age - his fascination with sonic inventiveness has remained until today. With years spent honing his turntablist skills and production prowess, Doctor Dru has crafted for himself his very own take on house music and has set his production skills to good use by working with the likes of Bootsy Collins.

His own record label Jeudi is one of the proudest German labels, showcasing material from other like minded producers from Hamburg. After a slew of well received releases, it was perhaps his track ‘The Voice Of Dru’ that brought him the notice he deserved. Dru had put together a seriously sexy slab of cool Italo house that went crazy on dancefloors around Europe. With more productions in the pipeline Doctor Dru is establishing himself as one of Germany’s finest producers.

Larse - Dynamic Duo

Joining him will also be fellow German disco and funk specialist Larse. With his latest release on Dikso records being one of the coolest records to come out this year, we can’t wait to see what he has in store for us when he rocks up to Gorilla.

Bluford Duck rounds off the impressive line up. the Noir Music favourite has been responsible for some of the coolest, soulful deep house in recent months. Expect to be mesmerized.
