The brains behind legendary UK band The Streets has become a bit of a dab hand at selecting rather than making beats since retiring the band in 2011, his Skinimix podcats becoming hot online property. He’ll be playing a very special DJ set in Underdog, the sister venue of Black Dog Ballroom, with support from the Gold Teeth DJs, Chow Down DJs and more.
The Streets debut ‘Original Pirate Material’ is a classic that still stands up to this day, the Guardian crowning it the album of the decade. It kick-started a career that would position Mike as a truly British voice within popular music, musing on everything from the excesses of clubland to the social pitfalls of our society’s dependence on alcohol. And this corker pre-dated dubstep taking over the pop charts too.
