Preview: exhibit and gorilla club present nick curly

It may rain for 95% of the time but Manchester doesn’t half do a good rave. They’ve been at the forefront of this country’s fixation with pounding electronic grooves for well over thirty years, playing a pivotal role in clubland history. That legacy remains fulfilled as Gorilla once again combine to bring Nick Curly to the city.

Curly is one of the lynchpins behind what has become the ‘Mannheim Sound’. The relatively small German city certainly punches well above its weight musically, boasting the superlative techno bonanza Timewarp and a bevy of artists who’ve since gone onto receive international acclaim. Curly and his Cecille imprint remains the figurehead for the city’s sound, which tends to focus on a rolling groove, and he’s since become one of the premier global draws for a legion of clubbers hooked on that energetic breeding ground where house and techno collide.

A quick glance (head here) at his upcoming shows demonstrates the regard he is held in, with upcoming shows at Pacha and Eastern Electrics before he hits Manchester. On the night he'll be joined by local deep hosue duo Rekreation and a selection of residents.
