Previews: Circus' Halloween Parties in Liverpool & London

Halloween preparations are well underway and the race is on around the country’s cities to throw the most devilishly decadent party around. Few look as impressive as the efforts from the ultimate doyens of the fancy dress house and techno extravaganza Yousef presents Circus, on 25th and 26th October in London and Liverpool respectively.

At the helm for both will be the mighty Yousef. With Circus now in its twelfth year, and with more of a following than ever, Yousef has consistently moved forward with his underground upfront house development, and rightly maintains his status as one of the country's leading house music tastemakers.

London (25th October)

With Egg London primed as Circus' home from home on the 25th, Yousef prepares to be joined by perhaps the busiest man in techno and house at the moment, Nick Curly. The last couple of years have seen the German producer in demand everywhere from Mexico City to Manchester, Berlin to Beijing, Milan to Melbourne, each city graced with his superlative command of the groove.

With the biggest selling record for Cocoon being his 'Sun City' EP back in 2011, Nick has gained the recognition he rightly deserves for his forward thinking, Mannheim born house sound. Recent productions signed to huge labels like Defected only serves to reason that Nick’s domination is set to continue for quite some time. His set at Circus promises to be a thrilling mixture of smooth, lush vibes and rolling funk ridden basslines primed for optimum raveability.

Joining him will be classically trained guitarist and pianist turned techno trailblazer Tobi Neumann. After undergoing something of a Road to Damascus moment at Berlin’s Love Parade back in '95, Tobi was inspired to drop his previous work as a film score composer and jingle writer to pursue the acerbic sounds of house and techno.

Now enjoying favour with the likes of Sven Vath’s Cocoon, Neumann has established himself as one of the front runners in the burgeoning German electronic music scene. His arrival at Egg London promises to be nothing short of a masterful journey through pounding four-to-the-floor bliss.

Liverpool (26th October)

One day later and it's the turn of their spiritual home for the spooky shenanigans, bringing the fiendish fun to East Village Arts Club. Yousef and his all conquering Circus brand present the welcome return of the Legendary Halloween Fancy Dress Party. Last years saw the likes of Nina Kraviz and Kerri Chandler cause maximum carnage for an unforgettable night of crazy costumes, ghoulish garb, and monumental music. This year looks to repeat the same impressive trick with a storming line up penned in for a Halloween soiree.

Taking centre stage will be Canadian born, London based and Liverpool bound Heidi. Quite simply one of the most accomplished DJs around, her Jackathon nights have set the bar on the possibilities of clubland ventures, whilst her Radio One Show Residency has continued to be an education in the freshest house and techno cuts plucked from the underground. 

Nick Curly will also be heading down fresh from smashing Egg London, alongside DJ W!ld, Gorgon City, Simon Dunmore and Lewis Boardman all rounding off a seriously impressive line up. Fancy dress at this one isn't compulsory but you will look silly if you don't bother, with the efforts made by the Circus faithful (and usually, the DJs in attendance too) pretty impressive.
