In response to Prince's passing last week aged just 57, a few cinemas in the UK will screen the star's 1984 film Purple Rain in memory of him over the next few weeks.

The rock musical which earned Prince an Oscar for the film's soundtrack will be available to watch on the big screen in numerous cinemas for the first time in decades. Check out the movie's trailer below.

Purple Rain will screen at Liverpool's Fact on Saturday 30th April, whilst Parkway Cinema in Beverly in the North East of England will show the movie on Sunday 1st May.

Manchester's AMC Great Northern cinema will be showing the cult classic on Thursday 12th May, starting with a slideshow on his life and work plus a soundtrack of his greatest hits.

Although not a cinema, Purple Rain will screen at 205A Lower Clapton Road in London, followed by a party on Friday 29th April.
