Prok & Fitch Interview: We’re constantly working in the studio

Bitch’s spellbinding take on full throttle house music shows no signs of relenting. After bringing Tristan Garner in last month, the electro rocker adding a delightful swagger and hedonistic edge to the Bitch canon, this month sees a headline turn from the duo behind Floorplay, Prok & Fitch.

As promoters and label heads, they’ve helped establish Floorplay as a barometer for quality house music both in terms of events and releases. Underpinning it all is their DJ prowess, and it’s that crafty grasp of groove that will be at the forefront when they hit Venus later on Saturday 30th November.

Are you looking forward to playing at Bitch in Manchester next month? What is your relationship with the city like?

Yeah very much so we’ve had some of our best gigs in the UK in Manchester. Looking forward to playing for Bitch, the party has a great reputation, and were itching to test out lots of our new productions. 

As far as the city were not to keen on either football teams, but other than that top place! 

Your Floorplay nights have become notorious in the house music community. What do you think makes them so special? 

Thanks, the Floorplay Parties have always created quite buzz and it’s definitely something we’d like to start doing again. Our secret has been a great crowd and attention to detail, having both spent so much time in clubs and at parties, we both had a good idea of what was needed to launch a club night. 

You seem to have had a very busy touring schedule of late! Which of the many gigs you’ve played particularly sticks out in your mind?

This year’s definitely been our busiest to date, in particular we’ve spending a lot of time in North America, our highlight of that was definitely making a debut for the legendary Sensation parties. 

Closer to home we’ve had some stand out gigs in Eastern Europe, the crowd really seem to get it over there and are very open minded to new music.

What productions have you had out recently? Do you have any more works lined up for future release?

Most recently we’ve just remixed a great track called “Freedom” by Muzzaik which is out now on Floorplay Music (watch below). Our last original release was “Don’t Go” a collaboration with The Cube Guys, it’s still hanging on in top 10 in Beatport, picking up some serious heavyweight DJ support.

For the past two months we’ve been working on our Debut Toolroom Knight’s album, packed with five exclusive tracks from us and the likes of Koen Groeneveld, Ruben Mandolini and many more, this will be released on Beatport on November 18th.

What else is there to look forward to from Floorplay Music? Any new artists that we should watch out for?

We have some special releases lined up for the rest of the year and start of 2014, in particular keep an eye out for a beast from Rene Amez and a series of releases from the immensely talented Simon Doty.

What does the future hold for Prok & Fitch?

We’re constantly working in the studio on Fresh material, next year we have some high profile collaborations being released & plenty of hot new music from us.

Dream situation time... you can go back to any period in clubland history, and play at any club. Who would you have playing alongside you and what tune would you drop that would define the evening?

That would be cool, would have to be the old Space Terrace (Open Roof) Joris Voorn playing before us and Carl Cox banging it out afterwards, the track would have to be Three Drives ‘Greece 2000’.
