Having enjoyed a blinding summer at The Rainbow Complex, Face dive headlong into the cold winter months with a reliably stonking line up of artists, further cementing their stronghold at the top of Midlands nightlife.
George Fitzgerald Boiler Room DJ Set
Man of the moment and all round trailblazing maverick, George Fitzgerald heads up Face’s stint on the 23rd November. Since bursting onto the scene in 2010, George Fitzgerald’s uncompromising blend of soulful, stripped back bassy house and off kilter UK garage has struck a chord with the current movements in dance music.
Labels like Scuba’s Hotflush and Will Saul’s Aus have championed his work, and records like ‘Child’ and ‘Thinking Of You’ have become some of the biggest tunes to hit UK dancefloors in the past few years. With a number of appearances at some of the biggest nights in the country, George Fitzgerald is fast becoming one of the leading lights in bass music.
Face join forces with Kuderta to bring to Birmingham the mighty Chris Lattner. Having been heavily involved with music his whole life, it wasn’t until 2008 that Chris turned his hand to producing. Since then, his work has found its way into the record bags of the biggest DJs in house music around the globe. Expect a night crammed with the very best in techno, house and tech house from one of the scene’s favourite players.
Davide Squillace at Kazantip
Headlining Face on the 14th December will be that irrepressible Italian Davide Squillace. Without doubt one of the busiest men in house, Davide has been responsible for putting out some of the most seminal output in labels ranging from Ovum to Nervous, Supernature to CMYK, and since 2004 has been one of the most important figures in European electronic music. Yet another hot booking from the Face crew.
Later in the month Jamie Trench steps up to the decks for the Face xmas bash. Now well and truly a stalwart of British dance music, Jamie Trench has been relentlessly turning out genre defining house and tech house over the past few years on labels from Tsuba to his newly inaugurated Roots for Bloom imprint. With Jamie never shying away from trying new exciting ideas out both DJing and producing has made him in demand everywhere from Space in Ibiza to Dc10, and hailed him as a guiding light in the future of house music.
Heidi live in the Boiler Room
The 28th December sees legendary Heidi bring her Jackathon party to Birmingham. As one of this generations leading tastemakers in underground dance music, helped in part by her regular Radio One slot, Heidi and her Jackathon movement have been regular features everywhere from Berlin to Tokyo, London to Detroit. This will be an unmissable appearance form the leading lady of underground house and techno.
