Waxxx is a publishing and events company founded and based in Liverpool. It operates a magazine that covers contemporary, independent, alternative and youth culture, and also flexes an events arm which has been at the forefront of pushing some of the best parties in the city over the past couple of years.

Waxxx NYE

Jaunting from venue to venue, including the rather swish Camp and Furnace in the city’s resurgent Baltic quarter, they’ve recently set up their own gaffe within the same region of Liverpool. Amongst the exciting events that they have running there is a sterling NYE offering headlined by house and garage voyeur Citizen, alongside a veritable feast of the city’s jocks, including Waxxx and Discoteca Poca residents Jimmy Allen and Mr Paul.

Last year their equivalent end of year bash sold out in record time and their focus on adding themes has seen them voraciously attended by Liverpool’s more creative partygoer. This year 'religion' has been selected, and the venue is going to be transformed to reflect this - with altars, stained glass windows, crucifixes and a whole manner of religious paraphernalia to adorn the walls.

Bedrock

It’s fitting then that February sees them team up with another Liverpool promoter with previous in the dance music in a church environ; Freeze. They will be bringing Bedrock to Waxxx’s old haunt the Camp and Furnace with label head John Digweed playing an extended set - and Waxxx will be hosting the second room.

The headline slot falls to indie dance superheroes Friendly Fires, who will be contributing with a superlative DJ set. Support comes from Merseyside disco legend Greg Wilson and Merc records boss Mark E, with a cluster of local DJs joining them. mUmU resident Adele  Moss, fresh off recent shows for the Warehouse Project and Fabric, will also be playing alongside Thomas Tuft of 3B Records and the aforementioned Mr Paul, who will be doing a very special podcast for us showcasing the sound of Waxxx in 2013.
