Public Enemy and Seasick Steve to appear at Kendal Calling

The small Lake District festival has become notorious for its lineups, and this year’s is no different, with the announcement that Public Enemy and Seasick Steve are to join them in Lowther Deer Park on July 26th - 28th.

With headliners already including Basement Jaxx, Primal Scream, The Charlatans, I am Kloot, and The 1975, besides the likes of Roni Size, Jackmaster, and Fake Blood who all take their turns in the Glow Dance Tent, this year’s edition of Kendal Calling is already chockablock with awesome artists.

Today however, Kendal Calling are proud to announce the addition of iconic Hip Hop veterans, Public Enemy. Chuck D, Flava Flav, and Professor Griff will be journeying across the Atlantic to excite audiences at the Lake District festival with their unique high energy performances, politically charged lyrics, and intoxicating stage presence that have since 1982 been gaining them praise, becoming only the fourth hip hop act to be entered into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Joining the Long Island based hip hop artists is a festival favourite, and American blues legend, Seasick Steve. Since breaking through in Britain back in 2007, Seasick Steve has continued to gain fans with his unusual, irreverent take on blues music. Often playing with a guitar with less strings than it should have, using a screwdriver as a slide, or playing instruments he’s built himself, Seasick Steve gives a performance that is completely original, and one that has blown the minds of so many people that have been to see him. He manages to do so much with so little, and is someone that should be seen at least once in your life. It is guaranteed that you’ll have never seen anything like him before!

Also added to the lineup is British guitarist hero Johnny Marr. Since forming the Smiths at the age of 18 in 1982, Johnny has gone on to establish himself as one of the best guitarists that the country has ever produced. His release of his solo album The Messenger has been critically lauded and cemented his reputation as one of the best guitarists and songwriters in the world.

We can also look forward to seeing The D.O.T, a collaboration between Rob Harvey (The Music) and Mike Skinner (The Streets). The coming together of these two has been something widely talked about, as their project born out of pure passion for their craft has yielded some unexpected and exciting results, as their unbridled creativity has run riot, creating something truly remarkable. Their set at Kendal is going to be something really special.

Over 85 artists have just been annonced! The little festival with big attitude is all set to raise the bar yet again, and provide one of the highlights of the summer.
