In the 1990s Paper Recordings was one of the most essential house music labels around. Run by veritable Manchester stalwarts Elliot Eastwick and Miles Holloway, it was home to music from the likes of Rune Lindbaek, Reset, an early on in their career Crazy P (then named Crazy Penis) and Salt City Orchestra, the nom de plume with which Carl Craig released the classic 'The Book'.

It famously released 100 vinyl records, calling it a day upon hitting the century milestone in 2002, but was relaunched in 2009 with a digital catalogue featuring the numerous past glories the label had crafted, alongside a remix album of the classic Crazy P album A nice hot bath with featuring reworks from Greg Wilson, Faze Action and more, entitled A nice hot edit with.

They then set about building a new roster of talent, with the likes of caped crusader Flash Atkins (listen to his exceptional Skiddle mix of deep disco and offbeat electronica above), Fingerman (who gave us another Paper flavoured mix), Electric Elephant's Chris Massey and many more, with a sister imprint called Paper Disco focusing on a slower groove.

They'll be throwing a label party in Manchester's Kraak Gallery on Friday 22nd August to cleebrate the release of gthe second edition of their Trash the Wax compilation in September, following on from a previously raucous soiree in the same surroundings back in March.

Atkins and Massey will both be on deck duties, joined by Joe Morris from Clandestino (whose hazy beats you can hear on the above mix). Tickets are at a ridiculously cheap £3/4 - follow the box below or head here for more details.
