RILO KILEY - 'PORTIONS FOR FOXES'
It's always boring to read of "this year's breakthrough band" - because there's always about 50 of them, and half of them aren't worth listening to. Rilo Kiley, however, are definitely worthy of any such hype. Their album 'More Adventurous' is being widely tipped for breakthrough in all the right circles, and new single 'Portions For Foxes' will challenge any sceptics.
Taking a pop approach to the sounds of both Bjork and Yeah Yeah Yeahs, 'Portions For Foxes' is a masterpiece of wry songwriting. Lyrically intense and instantly memorable, tragic and understated, the song is an impressive introduction to vocalist Jenny Lewis and her band's approach. Rilo Kiley have just finished a small UK tour: which is a shame, because next time they're here, it won't be so easy to catch this talented band. Popularity and success beckons, and it's well deserved.
