Last weekend the mighty Cocoon Heroes took over Great Suffolk Street Warehouse for a ten hour party.

The line-up was a strong 'un, with Sven Vath at the helm, alongside Mathias Kaden, Onur Ozer and an exclusive and extended back to back set from Cassy and Carl Craig.
The venue itself is brilliant. Once through the arches at the entrance, you're in a dark-lit, cave like corridor, with three rooms leading off to the left, one after the other. The underground feel to the warehouse is sublime; a raw space of brick walls and a few lights dashing over the hefty crowds filling the huge rooms - perfect for a Cocoon techno rave.
As we arrived, Onur Ozer was smashing out his usual party techno house which is so representative of the Cocoon sound. Progressive drum rolls and distorted, choppy vocals plastered over deep bass led to a series of fist pumps from the people that had already filled up room one. A few techno scrunch faces later, we went for the third room, where Cassy and Carl Craig had already begun their extra long b2b...
A pleasant arrival into room three was soundtracked by Carl Craig, as the classic Marvin Gaye vocals on Ricardo Villalobos' 'Peculiar' smoothly flowed out of the serious speakers at the front. Cassy was on hand to mix in the next, and for the following five hours the two bounced off each other's styles in an exceptional way. Cassy's deep tech house complemented Craig's Detroit techno as the two intertwined their music into a whirl of euphoric, driving and deep techno that was like nothing we had ever heard.
We did get a little chance to check out Papa Sven in the main room, who was pumping out his usual epic techno, making the hairs on the back of your neck stand bolt up-right. It was more out of respect for the main man than anything else that we left room three, but as great as he was, Cassy and Carl Craig were just too good - so after a quick dance, we went straight back in to the b2b.
The pair became THE main focus of the night and we spent hours getting lost in the music. Cassy threw in the odd curveball, like Argy's vocal remix of Osunlade's 'Envision' which went down a treat, and towards the back end of the set when Craig gave her a little time to herself, Cassy immersed the crowd in a proper Panorama Bar treatment with some clicky, pounding techno. The far-reaching range of tech coming out of that room was a recipe for greatness.
When the sad moment came for their set to end, we cheered in huge appreciation for the two. As we realised there was but half an hour left on the clock, we bolted back over to the main room where Mathias Kaden was rounding it all off. The fast paced techno house was the perfect way to finish off the night – immense build ups and a shit load of drums meant for an energetic finale to say the least!
So Cocoon had done it again! As always, the crew of world-renowned DJs had delivered top quality performances that gripped us with excitement and amazement from start to finish. And we've been to enough of these now to know that you should never expect anything less...
