Review: Diynamic @ Mint Warehouse 13.10.12

Fresh off the back of a hugely successful residency at Sankeys Ibiza this year, Solomun and his Diynamic crew were invited to Leeds to showcase their unique deep house sound at Mint Warehouse. This is how it went down...

We arrived around midnight to a packed main room, with Thylamoid at the helm spinning a selection of deep delights. Bright lights shone across the dark and eerie warehouse as he dropped recent vocal bombs like HNQO's 'Point of View' and Christian Burkardt's brilliantly groovy 'Delight' through the Funktion One stacks at the front. Thylamoid had no problem warming up the crowd for the main attractions that were to follow...

Stimming was next up, bringing his arsenal of 'underwater techno' along with him to perform a live set. We swam through the clicks and clangs of a mixture of Stimming productions complete with smooth vocals and orchestrated strings; the bouncy beats of 'Window Shopping' certainly kept us entertained and when he dropped his and Solomun's cheeky string riffed 'Feuervogel' the crowd were more than appreciative as hands flew up in the air across the whole of the room. The short and sweet one hour slot worked the crowd into the perfect mood for main man Solomun to come forward and take the reigns.

As expected, the next 3 hours were sound-tracked by an array of the biggest tunes of the moment. Solomun showcased his Diynamic imprint alongside a whole host of tech and deep house to the consistently packed warehouse who were loving every second. Strobes flashed as he dropped Walker & Royce's 'Connected', with that electro bassline sound that we all associate with the label booming ever so cleanly through the Funktion Ones. Euphoric times came when he dropped tech house favourites such as Joris Voorn's 'Sweep The Floor', and then there was disco, as Solomun treat us to feel good moments marked by David Bowie's legendary 'Let's Dance' and a wicked remix of Sister Sledge's 'Lost In Music'. The list goes on; in a nutshell, Solomun smashed it for the duration and as always, created a real party atmosphere. The whole of Mint Warehouse left the club wearing big smiles that's for sure.

As always, the guys at Mint Warehouse are hosting line-ups that are very, very appropriate. Last weekend we had Diynamic, next weekend we have the mighty Circoloco, and its just been announced than we can also look forward to a night with the Hacienda as legends like Frankie Knuckles and Graeme Park come to town. Keep up the good work guys, see you at Circoloco!
