It was last week's line-up that caught our attention and prompted us to join the crew and set sail into the sunset; the boat itself armed with a pair of beastly Funktion One speakers, a 200 strong crowd of mad for it party heads and the perfect selection of DJs to provide some boat-bouncing house music for the occasion.
Before the boat had even set off, the guys at Lost In Ibiza were looking after us; everybody was treated to a couple of glasses of Sangria to kick-start us all straight into party mode. We took up our positions on the rows of chairs on the top deck of the boat, Sangria in hand, as the Captain settled down into his driving seat and the DJs prepared for the quality sets that were to follow. After preparations were complete, the boat set off on its path...
After a brief safety announcement, the crowd patiently waited and chatted amongst themselves for the tunes to start; unfortunately you can't just start smashing out beats at the side of San Antonio beach, and the boat has to travel out a certain distance before the music can begin. But it wasn't long before it did. Ken Fan and Andy Baxter wasted no time getting on with it behind the decks as soon as it was possible.
Everybody was going wild on the boat from start to finish; there's something about being on a boat that just makes you have it that bit more than you usually do! The intimate atmosphere and added fun of trying to keep yourself balanced whilst you dance your socks off certainly gives a unique experience.
20:20 Vision duo Acid Mondays were next in the DJ booth to provide a royal warm up for the main man DJ Sneak. Playing a mixture of feel good house classics like Alcatraz' 'Give Me Luv' and more recent anthems such as Flashmob's 'Brick House', the pair really worked the crowd and the boat into a bit of a frenzy. The Lost In Ibiza crew were on hand to add to the excitement, dancing around the boat pouring tasty liquors straight into the mouths of those in the appreciative crowd; basically all the elements were there for a jolly good knees up out at sea. Towards the end of their set, Acid Mondays played what has become one of my favourite tunes out here on the White Isle, Tucillo's re-work of Delicious Inc's 'Eau De Chante', and it really was going off! Just in time for DJ Sneak to come on...
The House Gangster picked up the pace with his bouncing party house music, mixing the tunes together in that unique way that his fans have come to know and love – weaving and working tracks across each other and using effects in such a way that build up the tension over the drops. As Sneak continued to work it, people started to notice the Balearic sun-set across the horizon, which was pretty magical from the boat to say the least.
The boat was already en route back to San Antonio bay, and DJ Sneak continued to smash it until it got to that point where the laws just wouldn't permit him to any more. The music stopped, and the audience showed their appreciation before taking the little time we had left on the boat to reflect on what had just happened. It had been mint to say the least, and when the boat stopped back in its resting place it was clear by the smiles plastered over everyone's faces that we had all had quite an unforgettable experience. We will definitely be back for as many boat parties as possible in the time that we have left in the Ibiza season of 2012!
