So London is crying out for another weekly soiree to be added to their already teeming weekend selection, right? Maybe not. But when Pacha announce they are ready to thrown down a huge Friday night, it will always get tongues wagging and party goers whipped into a frenzy.
The stalwart clubbing brand with over 30 years of experience has never been one to really delve into the underground market, with the exception of a few shindigs. Pacha Presents however, which started Friday 18th Jan, seems just the ticket to broaden the club's horizons.
That said, the night itself started with a heavy snowfall around the area, leaving the club in dismay whether it would be busy or not. However if you're a keen clubber like myself, you wouldn't be held back by a little snow and ice. The main room dance floor as we arrived was already packed with revellers casting their moves. One of the major talking points amongst the evening was Pacha's new DJ booth, which seemed to have some sort of a gravitational pull. It lit up the main room with positive effect, creating a solid atmosphere.
Onto the music, Threez a Crowd started proceedings, blending a selection of old school edits with some more recent deep house cuts. Bobby Pleasure was also on hand to add his certain spice to the shindig, with a more a driving and bassy set. However it was Dirty Channels that raised the bar with a high energy set that literally left the crowd with plenty to smile about. Some serious hands in the air drops had the dance floor rocking. Upstairs we were met by Matt Fear and his warm and eclectic set. The Yorkshire producer has a good year ahead.
As an opening event it had a solid start and if the next events with Franck Roger and James Pople are anything to go off, this will be a successful brand in no time at all.
