Modern dance music may have initially began more in New York, Chicago and New Jersey, but there's few cities that have the cultural resonance with the electronic music than the fourth location in America to really pioneer the emerging sound, Detroit.
That's been down to a consistent wave of visionary talents, from the original work of the famed Belleville Three of Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson and Juan Atkins up to the likes of Theo Parrish, Omar S, Recloose and Kyle Hall. One of the city's other famous son, Eminem, couldn't of been more wrong when he goaded Moby with the word "Nobody Listens to techno".
One of those talents, active now for close to three decades, is Stacey Pullen. Having been an innovative voice that welded the jazz fused broken beat movement to techno, he returns to Liverpool clubnight Rubix on Saturday 5th March to showcase his lack Flag recordings imprint, playing for three hours (check his still fresh FACT mix above).
He'll be supported on the night by rising talent Youcef Elaid, with Rubix residents also playing.
