Salford Lads Club, the place made famous by the inside cover of The Smiths 1986 album The Queen Is Dead is to become a live music venue.
Pinpointed in Ordsall, Greater Manchester, the Smiths enthusiast pilgrimage is set to host a run of events with interest from major promoters.
Having already played host to Mancunian bands The Charlatans and The Courteeners (Watch Liam Fray below), this will be the first time the venue is fleshed out to run events on a regular basis.
Speaking to Manchester Evening News, club spokesman, Leslie Holmes explained that the venue can "apply for up to ten temporary licences per year" meaning that a run of intimate Smiths comebacks dates isn't necessarily out of the question. (We wish)
Leslie goes on to explain, "“I think acoustic is the perfect medium for the space. We have had Manchester Literary Festival do concerts here and the Philharmonic Orchestra." - suggesting that a series of smaller gigs could be on the cards for the iconic venue.
