It’s here! Probably the best thing about Britain, exceeding the Empire, stiff upper lip and, just about, cups of tea, is the Bank Holiday. The art of extending the weekend by one, two - or on very special occasions three - days may not be unique practice, but it’s one we do with aplomb. Easter usually heralds the beginning of warmer weather in this nation, where Sankeys presents three full-blooded parties over the last weekend of March to raise the temperature even further.

The Hacienda launch this special weekend on Friday 29th March. The story of Mancunia’s acid house history maybe a well worn one, but that makes it no less exciting and its plot thickens to greater detail when the original DJs at the heart of it all, Mike Pickering and Graeme Park, are charged with the art of the story-telling. The presence of one of the other iconic residents Jon DaSilva, as well as Greg Wilson, whose years the Hac predated house and techno in the rare groove and electro funk era, compounds this joyous journey back through time.

Another doyen of the acid age is headlining on Saturday with the return of German legend DJ Hell. One of the pioneers of the scene in arguably the most important country to follow the UK’s electronic lead in the 80s, Hell’s iconic imprint International DJ Gigolos has been an essential impact on everything from electro-clash to industrial techno. He’ll be joined by a disco fused deep house DJ set from Kris Wadsworth, and live performances from Bulgarian shaman KiNK and Wolf Music’s Greymatter. Sankeys’ own resident Jozef K is on deck duty too, with a feature on Radio 1 coming up shortly.

Then the final soiree of the weekend sees none other than 2manydjs at the helm on Easter Sunday. Reinventing the art of playing music over a decade ago from their truly seminal As Heard on Radio Soulwax Pt. 2, 2manydjs tour de forces through every genre under the sun with a riotous techno and electro undercurrent have made them revered across the globe, the obvious choice of DJ should extra terrestrial civilisations ever demand an understanding of what playing other people’s music should be like. They crown a gloriously wide ranging and heady bank holiday weekend, with support from Jozef K, Us & Them and Dutch Rudder.
