Sankeys opt for an Aristotle and Augustus theme for their closing party in October

It’s that difficult time of year where everything seems to be coming to an end. The end of summer doesn’t just call it a day on the nice weather (which we’ve definitely had this year, if not quite in abundance), it also calls the end on Ibiza and Festivals. It’s not quite over yet of course, September’s ten days off yet, but the horizon is getting ever nearer and it’s a darkened skyline clogged with bare trees and grim weather.
There’s a number of strategies to deal with it. This writer is currently a regular advocate of the heads in hands tear stricken route, despite its lack of any kind of benefit, but advice has cine come in that the best course of action is to make the most fo while you can. Get a festival ticket in sharpish or book yourself a flight for the Ibiza closing parties is the kind of decisive action you need to be thinking, and Sankeys Ibiza have now given you a reason to plump for the latter option with details being announced for their closing soiree.
With a season that has roped in the finest electronic music talent for a full weekly roster of forward-thinking residencies, they’ve gone for a curveball approach by insisting on breaking a world record. And not just any record either… the one for the world’s largest toga party. After Kendal Calling paved the way in oddball overtures to get inside the famed Guinness publishing institution earlier in the year, Sankeys are certainly looking to inject a bit of fun into the atmosphere - Greco-Roman hedonism with a Balearic twist.
Of course the level of work that goes into Sankeys extends beyond choosing wacky records, and this recent video outlines the behind the scenes trials and tribulations involved in running one of Ibiza’s most celebrated clubs.
Head here to read about Kendall Calling’s record breaking earlier this year.
