We take a look at what to expect as Sankeys Ibiza opens for business.

Tonight is the night Sankeys Ibiza kicks off, and boy is it looking like one heck of a season they have lined up. The club hasn’t been short of attention since the decision to close the Manchester institution of the same name was attributed to focusing on the white isle mainstay, and after the difficult chrysalis of 2011 turned into a full on Butterfly last year the club has been leading the way for the charge of the smaller venue on the island, and helping to further establish Playa d’en Bossa as arguably the island’s premier destination.

The opening weekend begins with Steve Lawler and Nina Kraviz tonight, and then Solomun and Cajmere tomorrow at the second part. Departure also squeeze in a Saturday party alongside Off Records to make for a grandstand of an opening weekend.

The two biggest nights of last year are back again this season as well, withbringing his Diynamic Neon Nights party once more to Tuesday (check out him djing at last year’s incarnation above) whilst VIVA takes over Sundays. The roll call for both will focuses on the huge staple of talents in the labels disposal, Diynamic calling in David August and H.O.S.H, and VIVA shuffling to the likes of Darius Syrossian and the fresher than fresh Anek, with other guests also due in their soon to be announced line-ups. We for one can’t wait.

One set of line-ups that is out, literally fresh of the press, is Claude VonStroke and his Dirtybird crew. The bass driven groove merchant will be playing every week bar one of the twelve dates, with label cohort Justin Martin joining him on seven of those and headlining in his absence on July 25th. Joining them across the season will be the likes of Eats Everything, Julio Bashmore, Danny Daze and Catz N Dogz on Thursdays at Sankeys between June 27th and September 12th.

There will also be residencies from the Hypercolour label on Mondays, London techno hedonists Fuse on Wednesdays, Audiofly’s Flying Circus on Fridays and then Saturday’s very own Carnival on Saturday. It makes for a season where you’re truly spoilt for choice.
