Sankeys launch a top notch double bill to get their 2015 campaign off to an impressive start. Following on from a quality run of nights that saw out 2014 and welcomed the new year with devilish house and techno, the Manchester rave den welcomes two heavyweight nights to start the year as they mean to go on.
Taking the reigns for part one on Friday 23rd will be a live set from Irish techno vanguard Matador, whose ferocious techno assaults have been a major feature of Richie Hawtin's ENTER. parties at Space, as well as plenty of other techno temples across the globe. Matching slinky synth lines with percussive clout has been his calling card, and the effects continue to deliver the goods. See him in action above.
As a producer that always marches to his own beat, Legowelt's nostalgic electro, acid and techno remains one of the most singular sounds in electronic music, his set will no doubt be another glorious display of spine tangling melodies and fist pumping drum programming. Jovonn, Chappell, Freeman & Farrelly and Jimmy Switch & Pedro round off the big hitters taking charge of the opening night. Tickets are available here.
The very next night, Sankeys goes on a house music offensive with Chicago veteran Lil Louis appearing at the zenith of the bill. The long serving ambassador of house has been rocking parties since the eighties, whilst his productions often find themselves in the legendary category, with 'French Kiss' being a mighty fine example of his talents. See the master at work in the brilliant Concrete club in Paris at the end of last year above.
Dungeon Meat's Brawther brings his no nonsense classic house along for the occasion too, with Oli Furness, Angus Jefford and Matt Ward rounding off the second half of the opening parties. Get your tickets here.
