Sankeys to reopen December 20th and 21st

We’ve waxed lyrical about the impact Manchester has had on the clubbing consensus earlier with our Hacienda article, and that legacy continued long after Fac 51 shut its doors. That was in no small part to a club called Sankeys Soap, which has been an integral part of the clubbing folklore for nearly twenty years, losing the Soap part of its moniker and bringing every DJ under the sun down to Manchester.

It was where the Chemical Brothers cut their teeth as DJs, whilst Daft Punk also made appearances there with Sasha, Carl Cox, Laurent Garnier, John Digweed and Steve Lawler regular headliners over the years. The club shut its doors earlier in the year for seemingly the last time, focusing on the already successful venture in Ibiza and the New York venue, which was opened in November. That sad news came to an end though recently with plans announced for the club to reopen, emerging phoenix style from the flames. We've now got tickets on sale for the reopening parties over the weekend of 20th and 21st December, with both events heavy on Sankeys family and favourites. 

Sankeys Manchester Opening Day One

Friday 20th December marks the next stage in the Mancunian club's history, when Sankeys invite resident Darius Syrossian (read our recent interview with him here) to headline the first event in the club's new history. Joining the VIVa Warriors man will be Sankeys fav and promoters of Flying Circus, one of the star attractions at their Ibizan club, Audiofly along, with Seb Zito and Rossko back to back in the Basement.

Mosca, the Numbers producer behind the track that arguably defines the garage house fusion revival of recent times in 'Bax' (above), tops the bill in Spektrum. Joining him will be Winter Son playing live, Gerardo & Hapson, Sian Bennett, El Eye Vee and Mora.

Sankeys Manchester Opening Day Two

One day later and it sees headline duties grabbed by Italian firebrand Andrea Olivia. One of the toasts of the white isle this summer on account of his celebrated residency at ANTS at Ushuaia, Olivia represents the kind of forward thinking groove heavy house music Sankeys has become synonymous with.

Lee Burridge joins him, who like Sankeys can count on two decades of experience and a rejuvenation in New York - Lee's All Day I Dream parties in NYC having been much lauded in recent times. Spektrum will be hosted by Music is Love.
