Make a splash in a lido

Where: Droitwich Spa Lido, Worcester Road, Droitwich Spa, WR9 8AA, Worcestershire

It's safe to sat it's been a bit too hot recently. And it has cooled down, but you never know when the temperature will spike again. So when it gets a bit too hot for comfort again, heading to a lido is a great way to cool down. Just 40 minutes away from Birmingham, you’ll find Droitwich Lido. There's a 40m pool, a sun terrace, a wet play area, and a cafe for when you get peckish after all that splashing about. It's a simple, fun, and cost-effective day out.

The MAC is a non-profit arts centre with loads on for the littluns to help them get in touch with their creative side. For example, there are courses teaching traditional and experimental arts and crafts activities, drama, and more. It also has an open mic show, Horrible Histories live, an Encanto sing-along, sing-and-sign sessions, Eye Music Trust: Colourscape, and more to explore.

Play and picnic in the park

It's been pretty warm recently, so you probably don’t want to be pent up indoors. There are a few parks in Brum, but our favourite is Cannon Hill Park. If you don’t know what to do with the kids in Birmingham, Cannon Hill Park is a great shout because there’s so much to explore there. There’s a mini amusement park, mini-golf course, a nature centre, swan pedalos, and even The MAC.

And if you've got older kids who might not care for playing, relaxing and enjoying a picnic could be a good shout too.

You can picture it now. The sun starts to set, and you all cuddle up on a blanket with a bag of popcorn, a bottle of Fanta, a bag of Haribo, and get ready to watch a cracking film. Sounds good, right?

In September, you can head to Warwick Castle and catch showings of Spider-Man: No Way Home or Dirty Dancing. Mamma Mia will be showing at Moseley Cricket Club in August. And Bohemian Rhapsody will be shown at Ragley Hall in September. Keep an eye out, there are sure to be more announced soon!

Speaking of Warwick Castle! There are currently quite a few attractions perfect for kids, such as the 3D interactive Zog trail, live on-stage performances, the Zog playground, and a Horrible Histories maze. If you’ve got older kids, we’re sure they’d love to try archery, see The Trebuchet (a giant catapult), and watch the jousting battles.

See how high you can bounce at Inflata Nation

Letting loose and running around, cannonballing into a ball pit, torpedoing down a slide, and wrestling in a soft play area is needed every now and then. And we aren’t just talking about the kids. Yep, Inflata Nation is better as adults are allowed to join in the fun instead of watching from the side lines. It's an easy way to get some exercise, burn some energy and just have fun.

If all else fails, head to StarCity

Tenpin is a classic choice that always goes down well, as is Adventure Mini Golf and trampolining at Gravity. There are also escape rooms to crack, laser battles to win, and new movies to see at Vue. Of course there's more, but we'll leave you to discover that yourself because we all love surprises!
