Selective Hearing had arguably their strongest year yet in 2014, the line ups and raves themselves were unwavering in their quality, as Manchester and Leeds were treated to regular doses of high grade underground sounds throughout the 12 months. However, their triple bill of parties to start the new year might just be the best thing they've done yet.
January 24th sees Selective Hearing head to the newly refurbished Faversham in Leeds, with house and techno freethinker Mosca taking the reigns. The Not So Much boss has entered the form of his life over the past couple of years, with his sets and productions combining the dark and the sexy sides of house and techno with rare skill.
The elusive, hard to categorise sounds of Kassem Mosse will be in full effect too. Anyone that experienced his Untitled LP last year will know that this guy creates incredible music, journeying though the murkier, soulful moments of tangible electronic music that are seemingly mellow and yet somehow incredibly dark.
The dancefloor primed bass and beats of Trevino and a four hour set from Dekmantel's Palms Trax round of Selective Hearing's formidable first show of 2015. Grab your tickets here.
It's an out and out techno feast when Selective Hearing head to a secret Manchester warehouse location on January 31st. Token Records stalwart ø [phase] will be undertaking a three hour live set of superbly arranged techno drawing on gritty minimal sounds and eerie Detroit techno (see him in action below).
Manchester based double team AnD join him. With recent releases on Brothers, RePitch and Ann Aimee, the duo's rough and rowdy techno continues to raise pulses across the techno community. This one will be fierce. Bag tickets here.
Completing the hat trick of banging parties on February 6th at Wire in Leeds, Selective Hearing fly in the acidic, gnarly techno and bass of Nonplus+ boss Boddika. The Swamp 81 affiliate's sets are joyous affairs that match broken techno with solid, chunky percussion and low end bass that work gloriously on the dancefloor.
Another master of percussive swagger, Berliner Mike Dehnert joins Boddika. The Fachwerk label boss is a supremely gifted producer, whose mastery of weighty house meets dub techno full of jostling hihats and deep as hell bass throbs is something that needs to be experienced. Check his Boiler Room set above to see why. Hold on to your hats. Grab your tickets here.
