The group's last album, 2014's The Hum and subsequent tour marked a change in ethos for the band. In the midst of performances at psych festivals across the world, in 2015 the band played an improvised live set with Spaceman 3 producer and Moog enthusiast Richard Formby on a Recon Festival bill also featuring US techno producers Karen Gwyer and Container.
This was the first time the group introduced synthesizers, drum machines and samples into their sets, and set a precedent for their forthcoming record Microshift, which they will be exhibiting in both Birmingham and Liverpool, as well as a double header at The White Hotel in Salford, in early 2018.
