New York soul singer Sharon Jones will come to London for an intimate show on Tuesday 23rd August. She will play the Brooklyn Bowl accompanied by The Dap Kings, who formed following the creation of Daptone Records at the turn of the millennium.
Jones is widely considered to be the female James Brown but only released her debut album, Dap Dippin' with Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, in 2002 after almost 30 years as a session musician.

The singer was diagnosed with cancer in 2013 and has since undergone chemotherapy which has led to her career being widely publicised.
Legendary film-maker Barbara Kopple took inspiration from her story and a documentary directed by her entitled 'Miss Sharon Jones!' is set for release in the US at the end of this month. Check out 'I'm Still Here' taken from the movie above.
Jones says she won't let the cancer get in the way of the funk and her live shows remain as enthralling as ever. Support on the night will come from The James Hunter Six.
