Simian Mobile Disco & Dauwd @ Liquid Rooms, Edinburgh

Continuing on form their intense tour of Europe that kicked off at the tail end of 2013, Simian Mobile Disco find themselves at Edinburgh's Liquid Rooms on January the 18th.

Now firmly considered as a British dance music institution, SMD have since their arrival on the scene in 2005 been responsible for turning out some of the most forward thinking, genre bending, and occasionally off kilter club smashing music in the country.

With better known hits like 'We Are Your Friends' ensuring their status as all time greats, SMD have gradually over the last few years continually retuned and redefined their sound. 2007's critically lauded Attack Decay Sustain Release brought them to the attention of the world, with a unique sound that combined elements of acid house with rock, flirting with electroclash but remaining tougher and more dance floor fueled.

Their sophomore LP Temporary Pleasure changed things up, bringing in sexy low slung vibes into their repertoire, giving way 2012's Unpatterns, which showed the duo taking on techno and acid, ignoring their pop sensibilites and producing a magnificent album of dark and brooding, high tempo underground vibes.

Equally at home with writing melodic analogue funk to brutalist techno (check out the incredible 'Sannakji' with Cosmin TRG above), or even drifting into uplifting smooth house stylings with the Bicep lads, Simian Mobile Disco continue to prove their insanely varied skills, succeeding at whatever they seem to turn their hand to.

Their set at Liquid Rooms will be an exciting journey through their incredibly expansive sonic spectrum, marrying underground vibes with sporadic pop bliss with devastating dance floor destruction.
